It Seems like such a long time ago. Masha and I went to a few of the readings that were open to the public. Actually a couple of people might have thought we were attending the conference because we were there so many nights. I sort of wish i could have gone. I had the paperwork to apply for 'scholarship' but i put it off, because i can't in good faith apply to something like that, knowing that i cant pay.
ReplyDeleteThe readings were great though. Dennis Lehane was of course likable and a very polished reader.
I also liked Ann Hood. bought one of her memoirs. quite captivating.
Scott Ward seemed a bit distracted, as if he wanted to be elsewhere. He was reasonably warm towards Masha, but I didn't see a edge to start a conversation with him. probably event politics. Sterling was funny, chidding Masha, "When Am I gonna get you to sign one of Your books?
At least he's read her stuff. Mine is mostly unknown.
Peter Meinke was a delight as ever. although he seems a little well traveled. these are educated poems. One thing I like about Scott is that he is straightforward and easy to read. I feels like any one could approach his poems, whereas Meinke has all these references to travel in Italy. He's pretty straight too, but I've never traveled in Italy. I feel a bit left out.
