David Hykes - Harmonic World/Harmonique Centre

David Hykes Released a record "Hearing Celestial Winds" in the early eighties, all commposed of human voice. not only does his choir harmonize, but they also use overtones to produce more than one note from the voice. The most startling of these is a whistling tone which is very melodic.
In 1999 after a class in ethnomusicology, i set out to practice what i had learned about the singing technique. "Ghengis Blues," a record about Richard Pena was also useful. It wasreally quite a shock when i first managed to coax a few overtones out of a sustained note.
