A bundle of sticks
If we were to really understand the conscious collective behavior of mankind, we would have to observe a wide vaiety of opinions as they occurred simultaeously across the world, or within an isolated population. We know that people have had to form groups in order to survive. the nuclear familly is the smallest such group. We also know that other animals, like primates which are similar to us, wolves which are also mammals but differ in important ways, and fish and insects which are extremely dissimilar, all for groups for survival.
We should also qualify material described as Collective Unconscious. If under discussion, such material qualifies as conscious. Similarities between the Myths of different cultures and the Dreams of different individuals suggest the existence of a collective unconscious, but such accounts, and their discussion must be considered as conscious behavior.
