bothersome news

Michael Moore Writes:
Eisner told my agent that he did not want to anger Jeb Bush, the governor of Florida. The movie, he believed, would complicate an already complicated situation with current and future Disney projects in Florida, and that many millions of dollars of tax breaks and incentives were at stake.

According to Moore, the report from the New York Times, alleging that he knew
his film would not be released at least a year in advance, was fabricated. He
recieved something like sixmillion. From Miramax to work on the project. Moore
has been on record saying that Jeb Bush has previosly made threatening remarks
to him about funding... well, Bush expressed his resentment that Moore recieved
payment from Florida Universities for giving lectures there. Mr. Bush evidently
feels that the universities should only sponsor Bush approved speakers. Now that
applies to international film distribution.

[Brandon] Mayfield, 37, a Kansas native and Army veteran, was detained on
a material witness warrant Thursday, the first American linked to the simultaneous
bombings of four commuter trains in Madrid. More than 2,000 people were injured
in the attack, which helped topple the Spanish government in an election held
three days later

It's not Entirely A surprise that an American Ex military person was involved.

"The case is exceedingly flimsy," says Mayfield's lawyer Tom Nelson, adding that his client hasn't left the U.S. since 1994.

Some of Battle's friends didn't trust Mayfield.

"We just were suspicious of what his motivations were. It's rare to find a white person, you know, spending time with African Americans in the name of Islam," said Quanell X, head of the New Black Muslim Movement in Houston and a Battle family friend.
