Mystery of the Crucifixion

John:

'Then the Master touched my eyes so that they were opened to Reality. It appeared to me that the people seized him. They carried him off and hung him on a tree. I looked at him whom they had pierced, and I cried out, ‘What’s happening, Lord? Is it you they have nailed to this tree? Who is this standing above the tree rejoicing, laughing aloud? Are you above the tree, Lord, or is it you they are nailing to it?’ Then the one standing above the tree reached down, lifted me up, and pressed me against the one who was hanging on the tree, so that I was covered by his sweat and blood. The one hanging on the tree groaned and the one standing above the tree laughed. Then I found myself standing in the temple courtyard again with Jesus.

'‘The one you saw hanging on the tree is my mortal nature,’ explained the Redeemer. ‘The one rejoicing above the tree is my divine nature. My mortal nature will suffer as you have seen, and the suffering will be real, but my divine nature will rejoice because you, and those who believe your testimony, will be washed in my blood, which will generate the power of rebirth into Endless Life. I have sanctified you, John; I have claimed you as my own. My elect will accept your testimony and will come to you to receive those mysteries through which they will also be sanctified and claimed by me in the mansion of my Parents.’"

R.I.P Hunter S. Thompson - King of Gonzo!

You can Check the rest of the web for listings about this writer.
One might have expected Thompson to die by his own hand...along the lines of the two gentlemen in Secondhand Lions. Suicide is never pleasant outside of fiction though.

Evil at Work

This website has attracted some negative attention, mainly for photos of mutilated dead Iraqi... and the mocking captions.Under Mars is mostly photos of soldiers and sunsets, and its good to get a look at what people are experiencing over there.
The down side is that some of the photos mock the dead.
This site has excerpted some of the troublesome ones.
What is wrong with these pictures?
There is a monster inside of each of us now.

Sheep vs. Dogs

“The Americans are good people, not nasty rotten, but good. But that not enough. They sheep, good sheep, responding obediently to anything suggested, but not take course by themselves. Question—which is better: good sheep or bad dog? They must show more initiative … in daily life—all for exercise of Will”

Gutei's Finger

Whenever anyone asked him about Zen, the great master Gutei would quietly raise one finger into the air. A boy in the village began to imitate this behavior. Whenever he heard people talking about Gutei's teachings, he would interrupt the discussion and raise his finger. Gutei heard about the boy's mischief. When he saw him in the street, he seized him and cut off his finger. The boy cried and began to run off, but Gutei called out to him. When the boy turned to look, Gutei raised his finger into the air. At that moment the boy became enlightened."

Practice Makes Perfect?

Sadhana means Spiritual practice, discipline. Abhyasa and Sadhana are synonymous terms. The object of Sadhana is to release life from the limitations with which it is bound.

Sadhana is a lifelong process. Every day, every hour, every minute, is an onward march. Obstacles are innumerable in this great voyage. But, so long as you hold God as thy guide, there is nothing to worry about. You are sure to reach the other shore. Mere curiosity will not help you to attain any spiritual progress. Curiosity-mongering is more abominable than mischief-mongering. Introspect. Analyze your thoughts and find out whether you have real spiritual hunger or mere curiosity-mongering. Transmute curiosity-mongering into real thirsting for salvation by constant Satsang (association with the wise), study of good religious books, prayer, Japa, and meditation.

One should practice one's sadhana according to the guru's instructions. The practice of yoga; the practice by which perfection (siddhi) is attained; spiritual self-training and exercise. Sadhana is spiritual movement consciously systematized. Sadhana is the purpose for which we have come to this place.

Personal Wiki

I've been trying some Personal Wiki programs to see what i could do with them. It has always seemed to me that wiki are like a transparent version of the 'InterWeb.' I though that they were a very clever way of presenting information and I thought that I would automatically create a clever thing using this format. People have also been using the wiki format for "Getting Things Done," and other strategies for effectiveness and productivity. Actually they call it a Personal Information Manager.

A Brief History of Music

I started off wanting to play the guitar.
I never learned but i do it any way.
At some point i started noodling around with six hole bamboo flutes. I used to make laundry money playing out side the lauondromat on sunday mornings. Later i settled down and tried to learn Irish fiddle tunes for Oneill's music og Ireland. Eventually i went back to the Guitar, and also acquired a classical flute.
I continue to collect playable instruments, although i have mastered very few.

Haile Selassie's Speech

The moment often comes unannounced and unrecorded. Sandwiched between the tasks and trivialities that make up the day then it passes wordless, like the shadow of a bird between the trees.

Now it's growing cold outside. this late in the year, my friends up north have borne the chill of winter for many months. I have already seen the robins a few months early this year. two weeks before Lent... I don't know if they are headed north or south. They always gather in numbers eating camphor berries in my back yard. The azaleas have yet to bloom.
The neighbors are away.
